The Algorithm and Computer Code for Predicting Detonation Wave Parameters of Aluminized Explosives

نویسندگان

چکیده

In this work, the algorithm and computer code, named DETO, used to calculate detonation wave parameters (i.e., velocity of pressure) aluminized explosives, based on chemical equilibrium theory products, hydrodynamic process, Becker - Kistiakowsky Wilson (BKW) equation state. The aluminum (Al) content reacting with products wavefront can be changed according user's assumptions. Compared experimental data for several explosive types, results calculated by DETO have same, even higher accuracy than those other codes previously published. Specifically, mean absolute deviation from is about 2% (VOD) 8% pressure wavefront. addition, study also confirmed that 50% Al powders participate in reaction

Determination of BKW Equation of State Parameters via Measurement of the Detonation Velocity in Condensed Explosives

An optical system has been redesigned and used to measure detonation velocity as a function of condensed explosive density for RDX, HMX, PETN. These measurements are then used to determine and fine tune parameters appearing in the BKW (Beker-Kistiakowsky-Wilson) equation of state for gases at extremely high pressures. Steady state form of conservation equations along with the BKW state equation...

Twin Screw Extrusion of Aluminized Thermobaric Explosives

The manufacturing of advanced explosives containing large amounts of metal powders to improve performance, such as PAX-3, have proven difficult to transition into production. Current manufacturing processes have had low yield which results in a high cost per unit and questionable product uniformity. Over the past year the Twin Screw Extruder (TSE) Team has been investigating the use of a TSE ma...

Parallel Algorithm for Detonation Wave Simulation

A parallel algorithm which has sufficient scalability for time accurate solution of a propagating detonation wavefront is developed. The emphasis is placed on reduction of computational time without compromising accuracy. The flow was assumed to be unsteady, inviscid and non-heat-conducting and coupled with finite-rate chemistry. A finite volume formulation was employed to ensure conservation a...

A Predictive Method for the Heat of Explosion of Non-ideal Aluminized Explosives

The heat of explosion is one of the most important thermodynamic parameters of aluminized explosives. Two improvements in numerical calculations to predict the behaviour of the explosion of non-ideal aluminized explosives were completed in this work. The chemical reaction between aluminum and the C-J detonation products of high energy ingredients was determined and the equation of state for the...
